Fourth Annual Series for Youth Mental Health 2016

The fourth Mathison Series for Youth Mental Health 2016 is on the theme "Marijuana, Mental Health and the Teenage Brain".   Jay Ingram, science writer and broadcaster will steer a panel of 3 researchers to discuss marijuana and the developing brain.

Youth Mental Health Day is our flagship annual event for The Mathison Centre, a symposium featuring international researchers and some of our own Mathison Centre trainees.   The subject of the talks being presented this year is on the topic "Using Genetics as a Platform for Translational Psychiatric Research".  Please visit Eventbrite for registration and ticket information.

Depression Workshops at Deer Park United Church

Over the past few months, the HBI and a group of Mathison Centre trainees have been working with Deer Park United Church on a series of 3 community-oriented talks focused around mental health. The first session, with a focus on Depression, occuring on February 24, 2016. The second session will focus on Psychosis, Schizophrenia and mood disorders and will take place on March 02. Neuroscience Research and Innovation Symposium

HBI Seminar Series: Dr. Darin D. Dougherty

Congrats to our Mathison Team who participated in this year’s Open Minds Walk & Run 2015 (Schizophrenia Society of Alberta)!  Lisa Buchy won the women’s 10 km, Danijela Piskulic won the women’s 5 km and Jonathan Lockwood won Silver for the Men’s 5 km!  And Darren Clark should have been awarded the ‘woman with the greatest stamina’ for running with a toddler on her hip. $520 was raised for the charity. Congrats to you all, you made us look great!
